Hi and welcome to MOM & DAD'S EASY ENVELOPE PRINTING Version 1.5 !!
** Hardware requirements **
First things first, in order to use MOM & DAD'S EASY ENVELOPE PRINTING, you must have a printer that can specify an ENVELOPE of any size in the Page Setup box. Printers such as the HP DeskWriter, Apple's LaserWriter, etc. all have this in their Page Setup and can use MOM & DAD'S EASY ENVELOPE PRINTING. MOM & DAD'S EASY ENVELOPE PRINTING automatically adjust to envelope size selected. Printer's like the ImageWriter don't have this, and thus can't as yet use this program.
** Software requirements **
MOM & DAD'S EASY ENVELOPE PRINTING requires system 6.0.4 or later and is fully system 7.x.x compatible.
** Some features that are in MOM & DAD'S EASY ENVELOPE PRINTING **
• Multiple mailing lists - set up a different list for every occasion
• Print one name or print them all! No need to print all those names for just 1 envelope
• Stores your return address as a default
• Sorts Mailing List on :Name, address, city, state, or zip and up or down
** Enhancements in version 1.5 **
• Exports Mailing lists to a tab-delineated text file
• Allows for multiple selections in a mailing list. Now you can print any combinations for names in a list.
• Repairs a few minor bugs that were uncovered in 1.0, including the coma that appeared in the return address even if there wasn't a return address.
** A brief run through **
When first starting MOM & DAD'S EASY ENVELOPE PRINTING, you will be treated to a notice that you have not yet registered this program and paid the shareware fee of $5.00.
At this screen you have the following options:REGISTER, which requires you to have sent in your payment and in turn you will receive the latest version of MOM & DAD'S EASY ENVELOPE PRINTING which is also in color, and the key that stops that nasty little screen. PRINT REGISTRATION FORM, which will print a form will all sorts of info to help you register your copy, and NOT YET... which continues the start-up process.
After the start-up screens are displayed, an open dialog box will come up and ask you to open a Mailing List. If this is the first time you've run the program, just click on CANCEL.
There are three menu's, APPLE, FILE, EDIT. Under the APPLE menu, there is one selection besides your desk accessories, ETC. and that is the ABOUT MOM & DAD'S EASY ENVELOPE PRINTING.
Under the FILE menu, there are commands to OPEN, CLOSE, and create NEW mailing list. You can only have one open at a time. You can also SAVE your Mailing list AS a different file. New for version 1.5 are the IMPORT MAILING LIST and EXPORT MAILING LIST. At this time the IMPORT MAILING LIST command is always dimmed. It was not working exactly right, so I decided to leave the command in, but leave the function for a future version. By selecting EXPORT MAILING LIST, a standard save dialog box will come up asking you where and under what name you want to save the exported file. The EXPORT MAILING LIST exports all the records in the current mailing list to a tab-delineated text file, that can be used with other database, etc. I promise that the IMPORT MAILING LIST will be working by the next version.
Under the EDIT menu, there are commands for CUT-ing, PASTE-ing, and COPY-ing text in the various fields. Also included under the EDIT menu are the choices to change the SORT BY order and the RETURN ADDRESS. MOM & DAD'S EASY ENVELOPE PRINTING can sort by last name, address, city, state, and zip. It can also sort any one of those choices in ascending or descending order. The RETURN ADDRESS can be changed or even left blank for use with pre-printed envelopes.
To add a name to your mailing list, just click on the ADD NAME... This brings up the Add/Edit Name window. Just put the info in the correct boxes. If you want to add a title like MR., MRS., or MS. just append it to the front of the first name like so: MR STEPHEN. To edit a name, just select it in the Current Names List and click on the EDIT Button. To remove a name, just select it in the Current Names List and click on the REMOVE Button.
